I recently have taken on a new project at work compiling information for patients... Pregnant patients. Well, I have never been pregnant so this has been a fun task for me! I am putting together information that we hand out to patients once they have a positive pregnancy test at our clinic. Thus it is before they meet with their doctor.
So my question is to all of you who have had children:
What information would you have wanted or found helpful BEFORE you met with your doctor for the first time in your pregnancy, generally at 8 -12 weeks?
Did you have any general questions for your doctor that you would have liked the answers to early in your pregnancy?
So far I have information about: Morning sickness, Miscarriage and Ectopic pregnancy, warning signs during pregnancy - like with smoking, drinking and Toxoplasmosis and medications safe to take while pregnant.
Any help with this would be great! Thanks!!

Davian,
I remember always being tired and feeling like I had no energy. Until I started reading that is normal I kept wondering what was wrong with me. I also wonder how much of that could have been because my iron was low. So maybe how to know what is pregancy related and if something else needs to be checked. Hope that makes sense. I didn't understand the huge hormone changes either. Like why I would burst into tears when I nothing would fit or I burnt dinner. Just some crazy ideas???
Jan
uh, I agree w/Jan. What is "normal". Also, I was always afraid of drinking caffeine (for some this may be alcohol), lifting, exercising; just the do's & don't's of the 1st trimester. not helpful. I'm sorry!
Dont mistake pregnancy for the flu. If your sick it will feel alot like the flu and sometimes its unbearable. I know for me, I am always paranoid about miscarriage.....maybe write down the signs of a miscarriage and make sure they know that around 8 weeks or so, the baby attaches itself to the placenta and ITS OK TO BLEED A LITTLE. Hmmmm, for me, its SUPER HARD TO get a move on with your day, but as soon as I step OUT of my house and out in fresh air, I already feel tonz better. Its really weird. Get out of that stuffy smelly house and get some air, even if its for 5 mins. Salty potato chips help calm my stomach down really fast when im sick....try that! hope that helps.
are you sure you not preggo? first the breast feeding countdown and now this...:)
I want to know if too much Dr. Pepper will cause deformations! My dr. gave a list of what to take or do for what syptoms and I LOVED it. I could try to find it if you like. I don;t remember if it was one I got when I saw your dr with Millie or in AZ from my dr. wiht Xander.
