Anniversary Weekend

So I thought I would share about our anniversary weekend adventures! We started things off on Friday (May 2nd) by going to lunch at Red Robin and going to see Iron Man. Mmm, the food was so good - we love that place! Jared really liked the movie and well I didn't! I thought it was pretty lame and slept right in the middle of it for about 20 minutes. I will give it credit for the last few minutes of the guy flying around in his cool iron man suit. (I told Jared I am done with comic book movies! I have suffered through too many (Spiderman, Batman, Transformers etc.) and I don't need to see anymore. So if you are taking pitty on him please invite him to see the next cartoon/comic book movie with you. I think there is some movie like that coming out in June or July?) Jared went to work that night and I came home and went to bed.

Saturday morning Jared got home and slept for awhile and I got some things put away in the house and got ready for our weekend. When Jared woke up and got ready we decided to open our anniversary gifts so we didn't have to take them along with us to Salt Lake.

Jared opened his gifts first!

Yes, we look way too excited! It was like Christmas again.

We somehow always get one gift that is exactly the same for eachother...
this time it was August Rush!

I got Jared a new DVD/VHS player.
He loves to watch movies and our other one just decided not to work a few months ago!
Jared also got an exercise ball to help him stretch and exercise his back when he is unable to go to the gym. Doing the stretches on the ball really help strengthen his back and help it not to hurt so much due to his work injury earlier in the year. I also gave him an alarm clock. He has been setting the alarm on his cell phone but will turn it off and not know it due to being familiar with the sound that it makes. My camera however was not out at this point of the gift exchange so we don't have any pictures of those two gifts!

Jared got me a new Ipod!
I look like I am a total goober or like I am going to sneeze or something in this picture!

I love my new Ipod! Thanks Babe!

We left around 2 and got lunch then drove to Salt Lake. We checked into the Radisson Hotel and got up to our room on the 11th floor. We walk in and see two twin beds! Funny, our reservation was for one king size bed! So Jared was just like um, alright our First Anniversary and we will spend it in a twin bed. I was a bit annoyed and thought NO WAY!! So I call down to the desk and they send a guy up and he gives us keys to the room next door that has the King size bed like we had reserved. Whew! We decide to go to Hollywood Connection. I looked it up online and it looked like a fun place with mini-golf, games, a movie theater etc. So we take this little map that was in a magazine in our hotel room and take off to find this place. Well, our little map was just that... little. We drive around SLC pretty much lost for like an hour!

We finally find where it is at and go inside. Yep, like 8 kids were having their birthday parties there. It is more of a kid place than what the website tells you. So we get some icecream and go look at the movie times. We went out to the durango to call and see what time Macaroni Grill closed so we would make it in time for dinner. As we are walking in the parking lot a lady asks us "Hey, do you guys like Hockey?" I just say "Uh, we have never been to a game or watched it so I don't know!" Jared was thinking that this lady wanted to sell us something and was ready to ignore her. She said "Well, I have 2 VIP tickets to the Grizzlies Playoff Ice Hockey Game and I can't use them. I am trying to find someone who will. Do you want them?" (If you are thinking this is so random - we were too!) I ask when the game starts and it is in a half hour. So I look at Jared and we decided to take the tickets. We offer to pay her but she said no and jumped in her truck and drove off. I totally wanted to take a picture with her but she was too fast!

Lets just say we now really like ICE HOCKEY! The game was awesome! It was so intense and fun. We were on the eigth row just to the left of the goalie. Talk about a fun time though! I loved the adrenaline rush just watching those guys play. It was a really fun atmosphere, people get into the game of hockey. The people in front of us were like diehard hockey fans. They knew all the players names and were really into the game. The lady was getting so annoyed that I kept taking pictures - but hey I didn't care it was fun! I had my camera out and was ready for a fight to break out, I was going to capture the action! Well my patience paid off and there was a little fight and a player from each team went into the penently box, but my camera did not do it justice!

The little fight between the Grizzlies and the Salmon King's from Canada.

Well the Grizzlies won! I have never heard so much noise and excitement over making a goal in my life as we did during the ice hockey game! We had such a good time and will go back for sure the next chance we get. Our new favorite sport to watch is ice hockey, thanks to a random lady that gave us free tickets! It was so much better than going to a movie. Go Grizzlies!!

Here we are outside the E Center by a hockey statue.

We drove to Salt Lake and went to dinner at Macaroni Grill. It has become a tradtion for us to eat there. We went to dinner there on our first date. (On our first date when we walked in Jared knew the manager and talked to him for a few minutes. When it was time for the bill our waiter told us it was on the house! How cool is that? It made a really good impression on the first date that the manager liked Jared so much that our bill and Brady and Kristina's bill was all on the house!) We also went to dinner at Macaroni Grill the night we got engaged and on our way home from our Honeymoon.

After we ate dinner I wanted to get a picture infront of the Macaroni Grill sign. Jared was beyond being done with taking pictures for the day so this is what I got!

We got back to our hotel and enjoyed a great night rest in a Sleep Number bed! Oh, my if you have never slept on one you need to. It was seriously the BEST sleep we both have had! We choose the hotel based on the bed and it was so worth it! We now think we need to buy one from just one night! All of the beds at the Radisson are Sleep Number beds so go check one out!

Our sleep numbers: Jared 35 Davian 40

What's your sleep number?

Lame? Yes, but so true! It is like heaven sleeping on one.

Sunday, May 4th our offical anniversary! We got up and ready then got some Breakfast and came home. It was so relaxing to not have any real plans and just be together all weekend. I loved the time we got to spend with each other! It was such a big difference from just the year before with all the stress and things from planning a wedding!

On Monday Jared had school in the morning so when he got home we had planned to go to the temple. So we get all dressed up and drive over to the temple. Did you know that on Monday's the temple closes at 10 am? We now know too! (Does it still "count" though? We did make an honest effort to attend!) Because it was like 2 in the afternoon we went to the mall and walked around and did a little shopping. Like four people made comments about how we were dressed (I always have Jared's tie match my outfit when we are dressed up) it was pretty funny! We ran over to Sam's Club to grab a few things, we stopped at a tasting station and tried some BBQ Pork. It was so good that we bought a package of pork ribs and I made pulled pork sandwiches for dinner, it was really yummy! We played tennis together for our FHE activity and just had a fun night to end to our extended celebration weekend! We had such a fun random weekend together celebrating our First Anniversary! It was just what we needed... Time away - but not too far and long - and time spent with eachother!

Davian-
I left you a comment a couple of weeks ago, but it must have been when you didn't have internet. So where are you guys living now and do your parents still live in the same house on 4th East? Or does Breanne live there? I always see a little girl out playing, but am never sure who it is. So I live on 4th East too and am pretty sure that I see your dad across the street from me every now and again working on remodoling a house, or am I dillusional? Is it not him?
